About the Downtown Tavern

The Downtown Tavern, located in Historic Downtown Jackson, TN, was established in the summer of 2004. It’s building is nearly 200 years old and is filled with tons of history.  The Tavern has it’s original tin ceiling and some beautiful brick throughout.  There are 2 separate areas of the Tavern: The Main Bar and The Upstairs Lounge. Each space provides a unique experience…almost like having two different bars under one roof!

Over the years, Downtown Jackson has seen MANY changes.  But, for the past 12 years ONE thing has remained consistent…The Downtown Tavern Family: staff, friends, and our devoted customers.

Most everyone that comes in for the first time says that The Tavern reminds them of “Cheers”.  It has a warm ambiance that makes folks feel welcome and special. If you are a repeat customer, you shouldn’t be surprised if you found a seat at the bar that already had “your” drink sitting there waiting on you!  Never been before??  The Downtown Tavern offers so many options, including several nice wines, top shelf liquors, flavored vodka and rum, fresh organic produce from Grubb’s Grocery, and the largest import/craft bottled beer selection in town!!

Another big part of our “Tavern Family” is the MUSIC! We at the Tavern are so fortunate to know so many wonderful, talented musicians.. Whether they are performing on stage, behind the scenes, or just supporting other musicians…they are AMAZING! The Tavern has had artists of various genres come from all over the country (and even right here in Jackson) to play on our stage, and we are constantly looking for new and original talent! There’s some type of music going on at least 5 nights a week…whether it be Open Mic Night, Original Music Night, or some awesome cover bands.  It’s guaranteed you will hear something you like!

Friendly staff, warm and inviting atmosphere, fantastic drink selection, and great music…what are you waiting for?! Become a regular customer at The Downtown Tavern – your neighborhood bar!

“If you’re lucky enough to be at the Tavern, you’re lucky enough!”- Mitch Carter
